Blackbeard far removed from Depp exploits

One rogue who did deserve to be behind bars was Blackbeard (BBC, €24.99), a ruthless pirate whose violence terrorised the east coast of America in the 18th century.

While his targets tended to be British and Spanish ships laden with goods, Blackbeard and his marauders were a nasty unscrupulous bunch.

In this drama, James Purefoy plays a role far removed from the humorous exploits of Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean. And while the action is not on the same scale either, there’s more than enough to make this a watchable drama.
