One rogue who did deserve to be behind bars was Blackbeard (BBC, €24.99), a ruthless pirate whose violence terrorised the east coast of America in the 18th century.

While his targets tended to be British and Spanish ships laden with goods, Blackbeard and his marauders were a nasty unscrupulous bunch.
