Nothing new in The Sentinel

Hardly a new idea – Sutherland does his chase-the-suspect regularly in 24 Hours – and not even the star-studded line-up can give this political thriller any bite.

It’s a well-worked formula in which top agent Douglas is suspected of killing another agent – while having an affair on the side with White House First Lady Basinger – and sets out to prove his innocence and save the President. Sutherland contributes his chase-the-suspect bit.

None of the characters manage to enlist our sympathy or support. It’s the sort of actioner television serves up endlessly.
