Wyle stars in The Librarian

The Librarian: The Quest for the Spear (Lions Gate, €21.99) sees ER star Noah Wyle shake off his doctor’s white coat for something a lot more fanciful.

He plays Flynn Carsen, a graduate student who successfully negotiates a rather strange interview for a library post, and then finds himself entrusted with the care of some of the world’s most unique treasures.

Among them is The Spear of Destiny, part of which has been stolen by the library’s enemies, The Serpent Brotherhood. Helped by his bodyguard Nicole, he heads off to track down the missing fragments, for whoever brings them together will control the world’s destiny.

It’s harmless stuff, and fun to watch.
