Veteran rocker Paul McCartney has won the first stage of his battle with his local council, after they refused to give him planning permission for a log cabin on his East Sussex, England estate.

The former Beatle, 64, built the secluded hideaway in 2002 and has been trying to secure retrospective permission from Rother District Council this year.
