Tribe members to try out British lifestyles

Channel 4 is bringing members of three remote tribes to the UK to comment on the British way of life.

The series is an attempt to turn the traditional anthropology documentary on its head.

Members of a tribe of Pygmies will take part in British hunting as part of their experiences.

One of the tribes, who have worshipped Prince Philip since a visit from the Queen, will be drawn from the small South Pacific island of Vanuatu.

It is hoped that the documentary will be an alternative to the likes of Tribe on BBC2, the popular series presented by Bruce Parry.

Channel 4’s Deputy Head of Documentaries Simon Dickson said: “It’s about time we turned the mirror on ourselves.

“While we’re often baffled and amused by the customs of communities on the other side of the globe, this series will show that some of our rituals, the gym, queuing, getting drunk on a Friday night, golf, showing a lack of respect towards our elders – look pretty peculiar to outsiders too."
