Cage buys Bavarian mansion

Nicolas Cage has splashed out on a new home after falling in love with a castle in Bavaria.

Apparently the star and his wife Alice Kim Cage decided immediately to snap up Schloss Neidstein, describing it as an "authentic, homey residence".

Perched on a hill, the mansion overlooks magnificent forests, meadows and hills. It seems the inspiration behind the actor's decision was his mother, whose ancestors hail from the region.

The price of the castle was not disclosed, but Nic's obviously not short on cash at the moment. Only three months ago, he bought a private island in the Bahamas.
