Veteran soul star Stevie Wonder will be honoured at the National Civil Rights Museum's 2006 Freedom Awards in October.

The singer will receive the museum's Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his "valiant" fight against apartheid in South Africa and his efforts in the 1985 U-S-A for Africa campaign.

Wonder will pick up his award alongside civil rights leader Joseph Lowery and French physician Bernard Kouchner at the ceremony in Memphis, Tennessee on 17 October.
