The Who to perform at Oxegen
Up to 80,000 concertgoers are partying to more than 200 acts at this weekend’s Oxegen music festival in Co Kildare.
Rock greats The Who feature alongside newcomers the Arctic Monkeys on one of the event’s ten stages.
Other acts at Punchestown Racecourse include the Strokes, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Franz Ferdinand, Primal Scream and soul legend, James Brown.
Up to 5,000 revellers will also be pitching tents in an official campsite.
The 80,000 Oxegen tickets sold out in just two days in March.
Promoters MCD said hot showers are available for campers for the first time and the World Cup final and third place play-off games will be shown on giant screens.
A spokesman warned people not to turn up at the venue if they have no tickets.
On-site medical aid is available and Naas General Hospital is on standby for A&E emergencies.
Gardai said they will also be carrying out random drugs searches at the venue.
MCD has advised concert goers to use public transport where possible to reduce traffic volumes.
Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are running regular shuttle services from the capital.
