Dunphy to present new Radio 1 show this autumn
Broadcaster and football pundit Eamon Dunphy is to join RTE Radio in the autumn hosting a new show once a week, it emerged today.
Dunphy had been hosting his own breakfast show on Dublin-based Newstalk 106 for the last two years but despite the station winning a licence to go national Dunphy said he could not stay on.
He will now join the RTE Radio 1 line up with his own programme airing once a week.
Ana Leddy, head of RTE Radio 1, was the first to welcome him to the station.
“I’m delighted that Eamon is coming on board. His unique style will bring a new element to our schedule and to RTE Radio 1’s overall exciting line-up for the autumn,” she said.
The move is the latest in a series of changes pushed through by Ms Leddy who was signed from BBC Radio Foyle to bring fresh life to the station in the face of increasing competition.
