Crow: I still love Lance

Sheryl Crow has spoken out about her “devastating” break-up with cyclist Lance Armstrong, saying she still loves him and thinks about him every day.

The singer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer just weeks after the couple announced their split, admitted she had wished then that her ex-fiancé could have been by her side.

But she said she realised it would be better to rely on her family instead.

“I would have loved for him to have swept in and carried me through,” Crow told Vanity Fair magazine.

Armstrong, 34, had offered to come to her in Los Angeles but she decided it would be easier if he did not.

“I do think about Lance every day,” Crow, 44, said. “And I think about his kids every day.”

She added: “I think we still really love each other. I definitely still love him and always will love him.”

The star said she still felt “bruised” and “really raw and vulnerable” from the break-up and the cancer.

“I can only compare it to having a giant tear in my chest that feels like any moment it’s going to surface,” she said.

Crow said the reasons for the relationship ending were “much deeper” than whether she wanted to get married and have children

Seven-times Tour de France winner Armstrong, who also beat the disease, told the magazine the pair had been at “different points” in their lives.

He added: “I’ve never loved a woman like I love Sherry Crow … I had two great years with an awesome lady.”

The couple had been together for two years and engaged for five months when they announced they were breaking up in February.

Later that month Crow revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had had “minimally invasive” surgery.
