Forty Shades of Blue is well worth catching
Forty Shades of Blue
Ira Sachs
Rip Torn, Dina Korzun, Darren E. Burrows
A success at last year’s Sundance Festival, it’s good to see this superior drama making it into our local cinemas.
A strong cast, a fine director and a powerful story of family disunity, estrangement, disorientation and growing romance makes it a film well worth catching.
Torn, playing a wealthy and successful music producer, and Korzun, his younger Russian wife with a growing feeling of isolation and frustration, are joined by Burrows, Torn’s estranged son, in a tangled tale of jealousy and anger when the latter finally pays a visit and gradually finds himself drawn into a relationship with his step-mother.
Adult, thoughtful, keenly observed. Excellent!
