Just My Luck

Director: Donald Petrie

Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Chris Pine, Missi Pyle

An insubstantial drama that doesn’t quite capitalise on a decent premise; how lucky do you have to be to be happy.

Lohan plays a young lady absolutely doted upon by Lady Luck, everything she touches turns to gold: a lottery; hay its first prize! A ballot ticket; clean sweep of all the prizes! Who needs horse-shoes and black cats?

But suddenly the lucky streak goes missing when she loses it to a cute guy (Pine) she falls in love with.

So how to retrieve that stolen luck and still win the guy?

It’s a feel-good teenage movie but it lacks real drama and wit as it tries for a strong ending about living life with the same sort of luck that the rest of us have to wrestle with.
