Depp not playing Hutchence

Johnny Depp has rubbished reports he plans to play late INXS rocker Michael Hutchence in a planned biopic called Slide Away.

Even if he were offered the part, Depp - who knew nothing about the project until he read it in the press - insists he isn't glamorous enough to play the Australian singer, who died in a Sydney, Australia hotel room in 1997.

The 43-year-old says: "No one ever approached me about it. I don't think I'd be the guy to play Michael. I knew him pretty well.

"He was pretty broad, Michael. He was kind of a glam guy. He was like a god, like a shaman, so I don't think I'd be the guy."
