Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman arrived in Australia today amid widespread speculation that she and fiancé Keith Urban will tie the knot in Sydney this weekend.

Last month, Kidman put to rest months of conjecture when she told US-based People magazine that she and the Grammy-winning country music star were due to wed.

“He’s actually my fiancé,” Kidman said after hosting a gala event in New York in May. “I wouldn’t be bringing my boyfriend.”

Urban’s publicist, Paul Freundlich, later confirmed the couple were “happily engaged”.

Australian media have widely speculated that Kidman and Urban will exchange vows on June 25 at a Catholic church in a northern Sydney suburb close to where Kidman, who was born in Hawaii, attended high school.

Last week, Kidman said she had moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where Urban is based.

Kidman ended her 10-year marriage to actor Tom Cruise in 2001. The couple adopted two children, Isabelle and Connor.

Cruise recently had another child with actress Katie Holmes.

Kidman won an Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in the 2002 film, The Hours, while Urban took home a Grammy in 2005 for best male country vocal performance.

The pair were first seen together in 2005 at an awards dinner hosted by the Australian government in their honour. Urban, a singer and guitarist, was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia.
