Toibin’s The Master wins IMPAC Dublin Literary Award
Irish writer Colm Toibin has won this year's prestigious IMPAC Dublin Literary Award for his novel The Master.
The book beat off still competition from Nadeem Aslam's Maps for Lost Lovers to claim the €100,000 prize, the most lucrative award in the literary world.
The Master, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2004, was chosen from 132 novels nominated by 180 libraries in 43 countries.
Toibin is the first Irish novelist to win the IMPAC prize, which was first awarded in 1996.
