Gordon Ramsay has signed a four-year golden handcuffs deal with Channel 4, it was announced today.

The chef will make a range of new shows in addition to his hit series Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word.

The exclusive contract will tie him to the channel until July 2011.

“We have ambitious plans for Gordon on Channel 4 and I’m delighted to be continuing such a creative relationship with him,” said Channel 4 head of features Sue Murphy.

“He is hugely talented, the best at what he does and full of surprises. As such, Gordon and Channel 4 are a perfect fit.”

Ramsay said: “I am very excited about signing this deal for the next four years. Channel 4 are the standard bearers when it comes to food programmes. They are vibrant, committed and tenacious.”

The F Word makes its return this month.

The first series saw Ramsay rear turkeys in their back garden and slaughter them for Christmas dinner. This time around he and his children will be rearing pigs.

A fourth series of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, in which the fiery chef visits failing restaurants, will be broadcast later this year.

Ramsay’s first Channel 4 show was Ramsay’s Boiling Point in 1999.

He moved to ITV, where he made reality show Hell’s Kitchen, but was lured back to Channel 4 in 2004.
