Although the legendary rock and blues musician is most associated with Cork, he was born in March 1948 in Ballyshannon, County Donegal.

Over 30 bands from all over the world are descending on the town this weekend and will pay tribute to the late singer at a number of venues.

Rory's brother and manager for 25 years, Donal Gallagher, said it is just the type of festival that Rory would have loved.
