Newton: 'Love comes first'

Thandie Newton turned down Charlie's Angels so she could play a small part in her husband Ol Parker's independent film It Was An Accident.

The screen beauty knew accepting a part in the 2000 blockbuster would mean instant stardom, but she preferred to support her spouse instead.

She says: "I'd been away for a long time doing Mission: Impossible II and he had written a film that meant a lot to him, and I'd always said I'd play a small role in it.

"The dates had been changing, then suddenly Charlie's Angels was happening and Ol's film was happening too.

"He didn't say: 'Don't do that'. He was just gutted. And I thought: 'This isn't important enough.'

"I married him and I value that more than I value becoming a star."
