Don’t get extensions, says hair icon Aniston

Jennifer Aniston says her famous locks were a disaster area for many months after an ill-advised decision to have hair extensions.

The 37-year-old actress said her hair was ruined by extensions she had fitted soon after 'Friends' ended in 2004.

She says she wasn't thinking clearly in hindsight but at the time she wanted a different look, so she cut her hair. She then decided to have extensions, but later regretted it.

“Nothing destroys your hair faster than extensions,” she said. “It’s taken a year and a half to grow out.”

Millions of fans have imitated her signature hairstyle, which became known as ‘the Rachel’, after her character in the famous sitcom.

Aniston has promoted hair products for L'Oreal, earning her $5m (€7.3m) between 1999 and 2005.
