Thief Lord film won't steal your interest

Somehow this screen version of the Cornelia Funke fantasy doesn't quite translate, largely because almost everything about it is poor.

It's a sort-of Oliver Twist - orphan brothers high-tail it across Italy where they join the gang of the Thief Lord in a quest to find the magic treasure.

The pace is curious in that most of the set-up is conducted in a matter of minutes and the rest of the plotline dragged out.

The acting really isn't up to scratch and that doesn't help maintain our interest in a disappointing film.
