New radio station to target young listeners in north-west

The Broadcasting Commission has begun seeking applications for the provision of a new youth radio station in the north-west.

The service will cover Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Longford, Roscommon and Galway.

The BCI says it must provide a mix of talk and music programming for people in the 15-to-34 age group.

Interested parties have until July 12 to make submissions for a 10-year licence to run the station.
