Carry On franchise to be resurrected
Film-makers are resurrecting cult British comedy franchise Carry On for a 32nd movie starring Vinnie Jones, Victoria Silstedt and British soap star Shane Richie.
The slapstick movies were hugely popular in the late 50s, 60s and 70s and made stars of actors Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Barbara Windsor and Hattie Jacques.
They centred heavily on innuendo - titles included Carry On up the Khyber and Carry On Doctor.
The last attempt, Carry On Columbus, flopped at the box office in 1993, but producers are convinced they can successfully breathe life into the franchise and have secured a £9.45m (€5m) budget.
He film, which is being shot in London this summer, will be directed by Peter Richardson. Carry On creator Peter Rodgers, who is now 92, will be executive producer.
