Oscar-nominee Naomi Watts is joining the fight against Aids by becoming the United Nations' latest celebrity envoy.

The 37-year-old screen beauty is keen to use her high profile to raise awareness about the deadly disease.

The King Kong actress will be working directly with the Joint United Nations Program on Aids (UNAIDS). She will confirm her role at the UN headquarters in New York City today.
