Cruise sets sights on superhero role

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is set to follow-up his role in Mission: Impossible III with a stint playing the ultimate action star - a superhero.

Cruise has already expressed interest in new movie Iron Man, which would see the diminutive actor transform from a billionaire industrialist to rid the streets of crime in a super-powered suit.

But the actor is even keener after hearing US funnyman Jon Favreau is on board.

The Swingers star has signed to develop and direct the movie, reports PageSix.com.
