Connery and Mirren UK's 'sexiest pensioners'

Former James Bond star Sean Connery has been voted the UK’s sexiest male pensioner, a survey showed today.

Just over half of people voted for Connery as the sexiest man in the UK who was old enough to draw a pension, more than double the 19% who voted for Star Trek’s Patrick Stewart, who came second, according to Virgin Money.

Actor Anthony Hopkins came in third place, followed by fellow actor Michael Caine and singer Cliff Richard.

At the other end of the scale, broadcaster David Frost was deemed to be the UK’s least sexy pensioner, receiving even fewer votes than horse racing commentator John McCririck and television presenter Jimmy Savile.

Actress Helen Mirren was voted the UK’s sexist female pensioner, receiving 21% of the vote, narrowly beating Bond girl Honor Blackman at 19%.

Actresses Diana Rigg, Julie Christie and Joan Collins all made it into the top five.

Margaret Thatcher topped the poll for the least sexy female pensioner in the UK, closely followed by Esther Rantzen and Coronation Street star Barbara Knox.

Tickbox.net questioned 2,423 people during April.
