Sting becomes a doctor

Sting is being awarded an honorary degree at Newcastle University yesterday - and he will be given the title of Doctor of Music (Dmus) at the ceremony.

The former The Police frontman will collect the academic honour at the prestigious institution, which is local to his birthplace in Tyneside, north-east England.
