Gritty Emin film debut a real treat

Controversial artist Tracy Emin’s Top Spot (Tartan, €24.99) spreads her wings with this feature debut which looks at the world through the eyes of teenage girls. Told in the style of interviews that are then played out in different settings, this is a warts-and-all examination of their hopes and dreams, sexual and otherwise.

In the hands of Emin what unfolds is intense and provocative. Her semi-documentary technique works a treat and adds a raw cutting edge.
