Grease is the greatest, say women film fans

Grease is still the word – the musical has been named the most watched chick flick of all time.

British women have seen the 1978 classic, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, an average of 9.8 times.

The Sound of Music is the second most popular, followed by Dirty Dancing.

Pretty Woman and Top Gun have also had their fair share of repeat viewings.

Other classic movies in the list include The Breakfast Club, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Notting Hill and Breakfast At Tiffany’s.

Online auction site eBay.co.uk also surveyed men about their favourites.

The original 1977 Star Wars film got the most repeat viewings – with men watching it an average of 14.4 times.

The Empire Strikes Back, Life of Brian and Alien are never far from the DVD player either.

Charlie Coney of eBay said: “They really don’t make them like they used to - Seventies classics seem to be the films that we just love to watch again and again.

“Once you’ve had your fill of viewing, you can always sell your film on eBay and get some of your money back.”
