Bruce Springsteen is to play Dublin on May 5, Aiken Promotions have just announced.

Tickets for the gig in the Point Theatre are limited to four per person and go on sale this Friday, April 7, at 9am.

'The Boss' is embarking on a short tour of the US and Europe in conjunction with the release of We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, Springsteen’s 21st studio album.

The concerts will feature music from the new CD.

There are 10 shows throughout Europe, starting with the Dublin gig and finishing on May 21 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The tour follows the performing debut of Bruce Springsteen with The Seeger Sessions Band at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 30. Each night, an all-new evening of gospel, folk, and blues will be presented by Springsteen with his 17-member Seeger Sessions Band.

Springsteen last played Ireland last May, when he brought his solo and acoustic tour to the Point.
