Eastwood campaigns for litter-free beach

Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood has become an environmental campaigner in his hometown of Carmel, California, and collects trash on the beach.

The Dirty Harry star, and former mayor of the town, clears the sand of garbage every morning and patrols during the day to ensure tourists take their litter with them.

A resident says: "Clint takes great pride in this place - and he hates it when tourists leave garbage behind.

"Even at his age he can be kind of intimidating.

"He gives people that famous stare and his famous lip curl and they know not to mess with him.

"He keeps the beach real clean."
