Failure to Launch

Director: Tom Dey

Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Zooey Deschanel, Kathy Bates.

Cert: 12

Children, particularly those of a more advanced stage, simply don’t these days leave home.

McConaughey plays such a son: he has a great lifestyle, a fun job as a boat broker, a fast car. But he’s 35 and still lives at home.

His parents hire somebody called an interventionist (Parker), whose task is to get him to fall for her and move out of the comfy home.

Then they really start to fall in love … OK, so you guessed it!

It’s surprisingly not romantic, nor remotely funny. It has the look and feel of a join-the-dots storyline, where several dots went missing.
