Tenors on course for UK chart history
Three tenors are set to make UK chart history next week by all having albums in the mainstream top 10.
Former factory worker Russell Watson, who recently won TV singing show Just the Two of Us, is predicted to land a top ten new entry with The Ultimate Collection.
Italian newcomer Vittorio Grigolo is expected to do the same with In The Hands Of Love, according to mid-week figures.
The blind Tuscan tenor Andrea Bocelli’s album Amore is expected to stay in the chart following its release last week.
HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo put the phenomenon down to a trend for music with broader appeal.
The only time three tenors appeared in the top ten mainstream chart before was when Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras had a hit together as The Three Tenors.
