Douglas questions short-lived celebrity marriages
They may not thank him for it, but Michael Douglas has some thoughts on failed celebrity relationships.
On the same day Jennifer Aniston revealed peopleâs sympathy for her over her ex-husband Brad Pittâs relationship with Angelina Jolie âmade her skin crawlâ, the Basic Instinct star emerged as a high-profile contender for membership of âTeam Anistonâ.
The 61-year-old questioned the Pitt-Jolie romance, as well as pondering the short-lived marriages of Renee Zellweger and Julia Roberts to respective country singers Kenny Chesney and Lyle Lovett.
âI donât know about Brad Pitt leaving that beautiful woman to go hold orphans for Angelina,â Douglas told GQ magazine.
âI mean how long is that going to last?â
The United Nations âMessenger of Peaceâ paid tribute to Welsh wife Catherine Zeta-Jones.
âYou learn to respect something of value and nurture it and treat it well,â Douglas said.
âI mean, donât ask me what happened with Renee Zellweger. I donât know how you get married for four months.
âAnd Julia with Lyle. There must be some incredible things you find out one night. I mean, I donât know.â
The actor also revealed that filming his famous screen romp with Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct left him shattered.
âWhen Sharon and I did the f*** of the century â it was eight days,â he recalled.
âIt was tough. It was exhausting.â
