Fox release series of classic movies

Cinema Reserve (Fox, €22.99) is a new range of titles that should have serious film fans reaching for their wallets.

Each title boasts two discs. Otto Preminger’s thriller Laura, for example, includes extended scenes with commentary, an entertaining documentary and two biography features of 45 minutes each.

The melodrama All About Eve, directed by Joseph L Mankiewicz, stars Bette Davis in a film that picked up 14 Oscar nominations.

Davis is the one to shine here, as an ageing embittered star, and it says much about her presence that I would watch her in anything. Fortunately extras include interviews with Davis and Anne Baxter, plus clippings from Movietone News.

Other releases include My Darling Clementine and The Day The Earth Stood Still.
