It's all over for Ross

Jonathan Ross is quitting They Think It’s All Over after seven years on the sports quiz show.

The TV host and DJ wants is giving up his panellist’s seat following 16 series to concentrate on other BBC projects.

Nick Hancock recently quit after hosting the BBC1 show for 10 years since its launch.

Ross, 45, said: “I’ve had a great time on They Think It’s All Over, imparting my vast sporting knowledge to the nation, but I need time now to focus on my other commitments and so regrettably I won’t be back for the 20th series.

“It’s a fantastic show and from now on I’ll be able to actually watch it.”

Stand-up comic Lee Mack took over the reins as host for the nineteenth series.

Three-times Wimbledon champion Boris Becker replaced Phil Tufnell as Ian Wright’s opposing captain.

Ross wants to focus on a new series of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, his Radio 2 show, a new series of Japanorama for BBC3, Hollywood Greats for BBC1, and Film 2006.

The BBC is searching for a replacement to take over Ross’s role in the show when it returns later in the year.
