Ledger explains Ennis choice

Heath Ledger agreed to play the role of Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain because he was keen to express the cowboy's repressed emotions through body language.

Director Ang Lee allowed Ledger to choose between the two leading male roles, and Ledger found he could identify with Ennis' struggle.
