Buchanan blasts ex-Sugababe Buena
British pop singer Keisha Buchanan has blasted her former Sugababes bandmate Mutya Buena for lying to fans about her reasons for leaving the band.
Buena, 20, quit the Round Round trio in December, claiming she wanted to spend more time with her baby daughter Tahlia, and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah, 21.
Since her departure, the group's only original member Buchanan believes the Sugababes' image is more classy.
She says: "Amelle adds a touch of sophistication. A classy element.
"Mutya brought more of a street element. When Mutya was in the band there was something edgy about it, whereas with Amelle it's more slick. People said we look more united now.
"Mutya had been in the band since she was 11 and it just wasn't something she wanted to do anymore. It had nothing to do with Tahlia, her baby. I have no doubt she'll have a successful solo career.
"The main difference is that now everyone's happy. When someone's not happy with their situation, like Mutya was, it can start to have a negative effect on everything else around them."
