Grant to film new romantic comedy
Four Weddings And A Funeral star Hugh Grant has signed up for another romantic comedy.
Grant, 45, who famously described making the last Bridget Jones film as “pure purgatory”, will co-star with Drew Barrymore, 30, in the movie.
According to movie bible Variety, the Hollywood comedy centres on a lyric writer and a music writer-performer whose collaboration takes a romantic turn.
The film will be Grant’s first romantic comedy since he shocked fans at the premiere of Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason, with his miserable demeanour.
“I have increasingly less enthusiasm,” he said at the time. “I’ve done very little over the past few years and to be honest, I don’t know what I’m going to do now.
“While I enjoyed being in the film, making it was pure purgatory.
“This is the last film I will ever do and, thankfully, the last premiere,” he was reported as saying.
The Love Actually and Notting Hill star, who has been dating Jemima Khan, recently finished filming American Dreamz, a satire on American identity.
But the new film, entitled Music And Lyrics By, will be his first romantic comedy since he played the caddish Daniel Cleaver in Bridget Jones.
Music And Lyrics By will be directed by Two Weeks Notice filmmaker Marc Lawrence and financed by Warner Bros.
