Curious fare for Me and You
MIRANDA JULY’S Me and You and Everyone We Know (Optimum, €24.99) will either fascinate viewers or perplex them.
Once you step into Christine’s world (the brilliant July, who also wrote and directed), there is little room for equivocation. Her life is a mixture of fantasy and reality.
There’s the unsuspecting Richard (John Hawkes), who stumbles across Christine; his two sons, one of who is dabbling in an unsafe internet romance (he’s just seven), while son number two is coaxed into judging two teenage girl’s sexual techniques.
There’s lots more in this rather unusual film, but there’s so much to savour about these characters. Among the extras is a revealing interview with Ms July.
