Rapper poses as Jesus on magazine cover
Kanye West, with a crown of thorns atop his head, poses as Jesus Christ on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
The outspoken rapper defends his brash attitude inside the magazine, on newsstands in the US on Friday. He is also pictured posing as Muhammad Ali.
âIn America, they want you to accomplish these great feats, to pull off these David Copperfield-type stunts,â he says. âYou want me to be great, but you donât ever want me to say Iâm great?â
West also says his hit Gold Digger was the best song last year and that it should have been nominated for the Grammyâs best rap song category: âThatâs a gimme Grammy.â
Nevertheless, the 27 year old is nominated for eight awards, including album of the year for Late Registration. The Grammys will be presented on February 8.
West has always been forthright in saying what he feels, most famously when he said âGeorge Bush doesnât care about black peopleâ during a telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims.
âIf I was more complacent and I let things slide, my life would be easier, but you all wouldnât be as entertained,â he says. âMy misery is your pleasure.â
The strangest tangent of the Rolling Stone story, however, is when West says he is addicted to pornography. He remembers first seeing his fatherâs Playboy magazine when he was five-years-old.
âRight then,â West says, laughing, âit was like, âHouston, we have a problemâ.â
