Rock star Pete Doherty today answered police bail over alleged drug offences.

The Babyshambles’ front-man reported back to Stoke Newington Police Station in North East London this morning following his arrest on December 4.

The 26-year-old star evaded waiting reporters and photographers to arrive at the police station without being spotted.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “A man who was expected to return today on bail has returned and is being dealt with accordingly.”

Officers will later decide whether to charge or re-bail Doherty.

The alleged offences relate to the singer’s arrest in the early hours of December 4 last year in Millfields Road, Hackney, East London.

Police stopped the car Doherty was driving at 2.15am and found substances believed to be illegal drugs.

He was arrested and taken to a North London police station, where he was questioned before being bailed until today.

A woman passenger travelling in the car with Doherty was not arrested.

The rocker was also arrested at the weekend just days after pleading guilty in court to possessing heroin and cocaine.

He was held in Dunlace Road, Hackney, at 8.15am on Saturday on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug.

Doherty also appeared before Ealing Magistrates’ Court in West London on January 11, where he admitted two charges of possessing Class A drugs which were found when police stopped his car on November 30.

The court heard that Doherty was due to return to Stoke Newington Police Station today and on February 6 in relation to separate allegations of possessing “small amounts” of drugs.

The magistrates released Doherty on unconditional bail, ordering him to return to the same court on February 8.
