Uma Thurman is surprised by her love for hotelier Andre Balazs because she feared starting a relationship so soon after her split with Ethan Hawke would doom the romance.

The Kill Bill actress, who began dating Balazs four months after her August 2003 separation from husband Hawke, is thrilled with her "cute, intelligent, interesting and complicated, and very supportive" new love partner.
