Will: X Factor is 'unhealthy'

Will Young has dismissed the idea that Shayne Ward could be competition - and has labelled X Factor "unhealthy."

The singer, who won 'Pop Idol' in 2002, laughs off the idea that Shayne is the "new Will Young".

He says any new male solo singer gets compared with others who are around already and that he's not worried.

Will also hit out at X Factor, and the show's obsession with fame.

He explains that what wasn't in Pop Idol four years ago, is the emphasis on "this show will change your life and you'll be a better person".

On X Factor, he feels there's the message that fame and money will make the contestants better people - and that's so unhealthy.

"When I did Pop Idol it was about seeing who could sing", he added.
