Doherty charged with possessing cocaine and heroin
Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been charged with possession of cocaine and heroin, police said today.
The 26-year-old frontman, whose on-off relationship with supermodel Kate Moss has made him a regular in the headlines, was arrested on November 30.
He was formally charged yesterday under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act for possession of the Class A drugs and is due to appear at Ealing Magistrates Court in west London tomorrow.
A Scotland Yard police spokeswoman refused to comment on reports that Doherty had invited his fans to join him in court while fronting a live gig in London last night.
“If there is an incident, then we will deal with it accordingly,” she said.
The band played at the Koko club in Camden, north London, and are due to play in Sheffield tonight and Stoke-on-Trent on Wednesday.
