Cash house snapped up by Bee Gees star

The house where country star Johnny Cash lived for 35 years has been bought by Barry Gibb, of the Bee Gees.

The singer and his wife Linda bought the rustic retreat near Nashville, Tennessee, for an undisclosed sum. The couple said they had fallen in love with the house and planned to preserve it to honour the Cash memory.

Johnny Cash died in September 2003 aged 71, soon after the death of his wife, June Carter Cash.

The retreat, which has been visited by everyone from US presidents to ordinary fans, went on the market last June.

Barry Gibb said the house would "always be the spiritual home for the Cashes" and that they plan to use the home to write songs "because of the musical inspiration."
