Irish rock band Republic of Loose are to join a host of stars on stage at the sixth annual Meteor Music Awards in Dublin.
The up-and-coming band are the latest addition to the bill for Dublin’s Point Theatre on February 2. Other acts confirmed for the event include The Darkness, Jamie Cullum and Damien Dempsey.
Winners of the Meteor Hope for 2004 award, Republic of Loose hit the airwaves with ‘Come Back Girl’ last year.
Around 17 Meteor music awards will be presented at the glitzy awards ceremony.
Music fans will be able to vote for their favourite stars or band in six public categories – including Best Irish DJ and Best Irish Band – while the Hope for 2006 Award will be voted for by 2FM listeners.
Some of this year’s nominations include U2, The Corrs, Hal and BellX1 for Best Irish Band and Joe Chester, Damien Dempsey and Christy Moore are vying for Best Irish Male.
The Best Irish Pop Act sees X-Factor singers the Conway Sisters, Ronan Keating, former Westlife star Brian McFadden, Tabby, Westlife and Zoo going head to head.
Tickets for the Meteor Awards are available to win through competitions in newspapers, on radio, TV and through texting.
