Channel 4 remained tight-lipped today about who will star in the forthcoming series of Celebrity Big Brother.
The channel refused to name the line-up, despite fervent media speculation that entertainer Michael Barrymore will be among those entering the house on Thursday.
Eight contestants will battle it out to become most popular celebrity on the show, which saw Happy Mondays star Bez win last year.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said the line-up could change until the last minute and everybody would have to wait a few more days.
Speculation is rife that Barrymore, who now lives in New Zealand, will be flying in for the show.
The former Strike It Lucky host started a new life abroad following the death of a partygoer at his Essex home.
Stuart Lubbock, 31, drowned in the pool at Barrymore’s home in 2001 and was found to have suffered internal injuries. An inquest into his death recorded an open verdict.
Other stars tipped to appear in Celebrity Big Brother include Dead Or Alive frontman Pete Burns, comedian Liza Tarbuck, Sven Goran Eriksson’s former lover Faria Alam and TV presenter Esther Rantzen.
