New research carried out by the University of Bath has revealed that Barbie dolls are becoming a toy that children love to hate.

The study has shown the long-time favourite doll is no longer considered cool by many seven to 11 year olds.

Instead, Barbie is now seen as a hate-figure, because children consider her babyish, unfashionable and plastic. Children also claimed they disliked the doll because she is seen a feminine icon.

In many cases this hatred has turned to violence, as some children have subjected their Barbie dolls to torture, maiming and decapitation.
