Wainright and Snow Patrol unite

Snow Patrol rocker Gary Lightbody was delighted when cult singer Martha Wainright agreed to record a duet with him - because he had already written a song with her in mind.

The Northern Irish Run singer tentatively sent Wainwright a rough recording of the track he had in mind, and was amazed by how well their voices intertwined after she agreed to appear on the band's forthcoming album Set The Fire To The Third Bar.

Lightbody says: "I'd written a song with Martha in mind to sing it with me. So we sent her a rough copy of it.

"It's wonderful - our voices seem to work well together."
