Lassie is a pleasingly old-fashioned film

It's somehow appropriate that with so many hi-tec blockbusters around for Christmas, this almost throw-back film should also be on offer.

Lassie films have been around for decades on both large and small-screen and this is a reminder of just how popular they once were, in a way it's a pleasingly old-fashioned film.

Whether today’s computer-orientated children will enjoy it remains to be seen.

The story, again almost old-fashioned, revolves around the owners of the ultra-clever sheepdog having to sell her, and the dog undertaking a long and dangerous journey back home.

It's a gentle, easy-going film - shot in Ireland - which even the coldest of heart, could not fail to like.
